Hay, John. De Rebus Japonicis, Indicis, et Peruanis epistolae recentiores. Martinus Nuntius, Antwerp. John Hay (1546-1607), a Scottish Jesuit, compiled 55 letters, written between 1577 and 1601. The largest part of the letters are about Jesuits activities in Japan and Korea.

The German edition of the most influential description of China in the first half of the 17th century. The title-page, engraved by Wolfgang Kilian, gives the title on a cloth hanging in a portico, flanked by the figures of St Francis Xavier and Matteo Ricci, and with a small map of China, Korea, Japan and Formosa, with the Great Wall depicted, at the foot.
