NEW MEMBERS:

Dear and beloved friends of Thanissaro Bhikkhu, please be sure to abide by the founding rules of The Skillful Teachings of Thanissaro Bhikkhu.

ON ADMISSION TO THE GROUP: Please note that answering the entry questions is *mandatory* for inclusion in the group. Those who do not supply answers to the questions will not be considered for inclusion.

PLEASE NOTE THAT DHARMA TEACHING POSTS ARE LIMITED EXCLUSIVELY TO THE TEACHINGS. WRITINGS, TALKS AND TO TRANSLATIONS OF THANISSARO BHIKKHU, AND THE TEACHINGS OF AJAHN GEOF'S LINEAGE TEACHERS, WHICH TEACHINGS ARE ALSO TRANSLATIONS BY HIM.

THIS GROUP ALSO WELCOMES AND ENCOURAGES QUESTIONS ABOUT DHAMMA PRACTICE BUT REQUESTS THAT RESPONSES TO THOSE QUESTIONS BE BASED AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE ON HOW MEMBERS UNDERSTAND AND USE THE TEACHINGS OF THANISSARO BHIKKHU. THIS RULE AND FOCUS ALSO APPLIES TO COMMENTS IN THREADS.

~

If within the context of a discussion thread of a post, other Buddhist teachings and Buddhist views come up, that's understandable, but please present these views in in your *own* words, keeping in mind that this Group is a *Theravadan Buddhist* group focused on the *teachings of Thanissaro Bhikkhu.*

To repeat: the Group's focus is on how to use Ajahn Geoff's teachings and translations of the Pali canon for study and practice. In the comments, long quotes from or links to other Buddhist sites or other teachers are prohibited in order to preserve the singular focus of this group.

~

That said, please note that this group *welcomes* and *encourages* dialogue and discussion, while avoiding as much as fallible human beings can falling into unskillful debate or wrong speech.

Discussion threads should be polite, civil, courteous. When differing viewpoints arise or different interpretations and if there is no meeting of the minds, please just agree to disagree, and in good will return to how these teachings of Thanissaro Bhikkhu can help one's practice.

~

Thank you for abiding by the rules, which have allowed this group over the years to not become diluted, or a multi-teacher group, or just a general dharma discussion site but a place where the skillful teachings and translations of Thanissaro Bhikkhu are the sole focus.

~

ABOUT SPAM: Note that this group has had from its founding absolutely ZERO tolerance for SPAM or off-topic posts of *any* sort -- 1 strike and you're out!

~

Please post no more than TWICE in any 24 hour *date* period.  This rule about posting frequency applies to everyone, except to the Administrators and Co-founders of the Group, who may post more often if there is a paucity of shares from members or if some problem or topic needs to be addressed.)

~

Thank you very much for having created and been running this group. But may I ask a clarifying question?

I understand that this group aims particularly at studying Thanissaro Bhikkhu's teachings, which is also exactly why I joined this group.

Yet, some times we cannot find a clear direct answer to our question in his books or dhamma talks

but bump into a clue/hint in Bhikkhu Bodhi's teachings or Abhidhamma.

Even in this case, even while we are trying to get a chance to ask Thanissaro Bhikkhu and get his answer,

we are NOT allowed to share even in a comment what we find in Bhikkhu Bodhi's teachings or Abhidhamma that could potentially help with the original question.

Am I right on this?
