Deleuze can be seen as one of the most important thinkers of the 20th century. His (and Guattarri's) ideas on deterritorialization, multiplicities, the rhizome, speed, and others create new philosophical narratives that pierce the veil of metaphysics. Something deemed half-way obsolete by many in the 20th century. Here we explore his metaphysical relationship with arguably his largest influence. That being Spinoza.

Deleuze is like a therapy session where you're on the most potent mushrooms imaginable and you're also your own French shaman

The way you truly bring forth the essence of what makes these ideas so profound through your visual effects and music is absolutely incredible.
Thank you for not only bringing philosophy to us in a digestible manner, but also for making it interesting, captivating, and enthralling.

This is fantastic; I ordered Deleuze’s text on Spinoza the other day, and have a copy of “theological-political treatise” sitting in my bookshelf....never interacted with him before, so stoked to start digging into it. Thanks again for the video dude

I was drawn in because I think of myself as a Spinoza fanboy and am now going through all of your videos. This channel is a fantastic find.

Thank you so much for this :) This video is helping me to understand what seems to understand some of Bhaskar's Critical Realism.

Whether intentional or otherwise, I find it ironic that the common background throughout the video (floating particles over a black background) resemble the glass dust that would ultimately lead to Spinoza’s death.

was ontology really considered dead? Cybernetics brings up plenty of new ideas in process philosophy - is Deleuze really the first guy to have explored that? I've been thinking about the implications of cybernetics for ages, I assumed it would be well-worn ground in academia by now.

Everyone and by everyone I mean everyone should read Spinoza . He is the greatest to ever do it . Read the whole book and you will see how he anticipates subsequently majority of modern academia .

Really wonderful video! It's funny, I'd never delved into Spinoza but have obviously encountered and been influenced by people he's influenced because I found myself thinking, wow that's exactly my view of the world, at lots of points in the video

Love the topics, I’m a massive DnG fan, you should do a video with Spinoza then and now by Negri

Loved it. I try to explain this stuff to not-philosophically-educated people and I just end up doing something like the blanket scene from I Heart Huckabee's. Now I can outsource the work to this vid.

Great video! One thing I don't understood about Deleuze was this (maybe someone can help): Deleuze embraced Spinoza's immanence, but starts to differ from Spinoza when he claims God is of the modes. At the end of Difference and Repetition he says to "Turn the modes around." It seems that he is turning against the unity of Spinoza's God in favor of Difference? I'd appreciate if someone could help. (Again great video and the editing was amazing!)

I was pretty salty that this got selected over Chomsky's Syntactic Structures, but now after watching the video, I think this was good. Thanks. Hopefully we get the syntactic structures video soon!

Many times "phil. youtube" is filled with bad interpretations of many authors ideas and arguments, but certainly this is NOT the case. Awesome video!

I've noticed a lot of YouTube regarding philosophy seems to be 'pop-culture' philosophy if that makes sense. If it's not, it tends to be really dull, dry, non-inspiring slideshow videos lol. Which are great, but I'm hoping to bridge the artistic video gap with something that actually delves into core ideas.

Is there any way to access the sources you drew on for this video? I'd love to get more into this, but I wasn't sure if I should just dive into the Ethics, or what works of Deleuze are connected to this topic, etc.
