Gerhard Wehr (born September 26 , 1931 in Schweinfurt ; † April 22, 2015 in Schwarzenbruck ) was a German Protestant theologian and non-fiction author .

Life
Gerhard Wehr initially trained to become a deacon . He became known as an editor and author of non-fiction books on depth psychology (especially analytical psychology ) and esoteric topics with a focus on Christian mysticism , as well as as the author of numerous biographies - especially on Jakob Böhme , Martin Buber , CG Jung and Rudolf Steiner .
His professional career began in church social work and adult education. From 1971 to 1990 he had a teaching position at the deacon school in Rummelsberg . [1] He then lived as a freelance writer in neighboring Schwarzenbruck. He was a member of numerous professional societies; For his theological and journalistic work he was appointed “Honorary Doctor of Theology” ( Dr. theol. hc) by the Augustana University of Neuendettelsau .
One of the main concerns of his work was mediating between different disciplines, denominations and worldviews. This effort was also expressed in the fact that Wehr published his works in anthroposophically oriented publishers such as Novalis , Urachhaus or Pforte , as well as the in-house publisher of the German College for Transpersonal Psychology , Via Nova . On the other hand, he maintained contact with the traditional Christian denominations. His books were published by Evangelical Lutheran-oriented publishers such as Claudius and by the Roman Catholic publisher Herderpublished. He also contributed articles to the ecumenically oriented left-wing Catholic magazine Publik-Forum and to the Swedenborgians ' in-house magazine in Germany, Offene Tore .

Er wurde als Herausgeber und Autor von Sachbüchern zur Tiefenpsychologie (speziell die analytische Psychologie) und esoterischen Themen mit dem Schwerpunkt christliche Mystik sowie als Verfasser zahlreicher Biografien – insbesondere über Jakob Böhme, Martin Buber, C.G. Jung und Rudolf Steiner – bekannt.
Sein beruflicher Werdegang begann in der kirchlichen Sozialarbeit und Erwachsenenbildung. Von 1971 bis 1990 hatte er einen Lehrauftrag an der Diakonenschule in Rummelsberg.[1] Danach lebte er als freier Schriftsteller im benachbarten Schwarzenbruck. Er war Mitglied zahlreicher Fachgesellschaften; für sein theologisch-publizistisches Schaffen wurde er von der Augustana-Hochschule Neuendettelsau zum „Doktor der Theologie ehrenhalber“ (Dr. theol. h. c.) ernannt.
Ein Hauptanliegen seiner Tätigkeit war die Vermittlung zwischen den verschiedenen Disziplinen, Konfessionen und Weltanschauungsrichtungen. Dieses Bemühen fand seinen Ausdruck auch darin, dass Wehr seine Werke zum einen sowohl in anthroposophisch ausgerichteten Verlagen wie Novalis, Urachhaus oder Pforte, als auch dem Hausverlag des Deutschen Kollegiums für transpersonale Psychologie, Via Nova, veröffentlichte. Zum anderen wahrte er den Kontakt zu den tradierten christlichen Konfessionen. Seine Bücher wurden von evangelisch-lutherisch orientierten Verlagen wie Claudius und vom römisch-katholisch begründeten Verlag Herder herausgegeben. Auch für die ökumenisch ausgerichtete linkskatholische Zeitschrift Publik-Forum sowie für die Hauszeitschrift der Swedenborgianer in Deutschland, Offene Tore, hat er Artikel beigesteuert.
