About this group
This group is dedicated to all the seekers of TRUTH, Ishwara (God), the SELF. To AWAKE, to become AWARE of and to REMEMBER one's own SELF.
Advaita ( literally, non-duality ) is a system of thought where "ADVAITA" refers to the identity of the self ( Atman ) and the Whole ( Brahman ).
The key source texts for all schools of Vedanta are the Prasthanatrayi- the canonical texts consisting of the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita and the Brahma Sutras. The first person to explictly consolidate the principles of Advaita Vedanta was Adi Shankara, while the first historical proponent was Gaudapada, the guru of Shankara's guru Govinda Bhagavatpada.
The purpose of Advaita Vedanta is to teach aspirants the existential problems of life and help them transcend the “illusion” and limitations of the physical world. The ultimate aim is to overcome suffering and find inner peace. In this respect, Vedanta is focused on the Universe, the Individual and relinquishing the ignorance of that keeps is bound to the material world.
Adi Shankara's system (ie, Advaita ) is unmatched (with other schools ) for its metaphysical depth and logical power.
