The incarnation and resurrection of Jesus, writes Diarmuid O’Murchu, marks a new evolutionary threshold and points the way towards the fulfillment of our destiny. We can continue in that direction… or destroy ourselves. It is our choice: to co-create with God, or co-destruct on our own. Incarnation shows us what we need to know to choose rightly.

Incarnation reveals how the notion of separateness – of “others” and “borders” and the earth as an object to exploit – endangers everyone and everything. O'Murchu expands the Christian idea of Incarnation to reveal a universal embodiment of Spirit. He shows how all forms of embodiment – from bacteria to the stars, from our children to strangers – evidence a God who loves bodies, and chooses the corporeal form in every initiative of co-creation.

Wow! Diarmuid O’Murchu has blown open such a new awareness of INCARNATION that is so refreshingly clear, and intellectually honest that I just want to read the book again and again so as not to miss any of his argument! His chapter 7 alone on Sex and Gender was an answer to prayer, for some understanding! In that chapter, Diarmuid clears up so much confusion in his succinct/in-depth analysis of patriarchy and its repressive effects through its history, in both culture and the Christian (Catholic) church over the centuries! This latest work of Diarmuid is a must read for anyone who is tired of hearing/listening to the same “old tapes” and I’ve only yet finished Chapter 7! Thank you, Diarmuid O’Murchu!

Surely opened my eyes and hearts to a reality different than my learned experience of incarnation. A heavy but good read

The author directs his thoughts and analyses to mature persons who are looking for religious experiences relevant to their time of life. He respects their longing for meaning and the wisdom they have amassed, and he speaks to the fact that they have outgrown religious practices of their earlier years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Be Challenged!Reviewed in the United States on 23 June 2018

O’Murchu offers a compelling synthesis of theological and evolutionary thought that impels one to intentionally reflect on the accepted Christian doctrine of the Incarnation. His insights are refreshing and disruptive of the familiar. This is a great read for those open minded enough to embrace an expansive view of the Incarnation.
