3.0 3.0 out of 5 stars 1 rating
The spiritual leader of the displaced Tibetan people, one of the foremost Buddhist thinkers of the world, and the recipient of the Nobel Prize for Peace, 1989, the 14th Dalai Lama is also well known for being a messenger of peace and goodwill. His political philosophy has guided not only Tibetans for many decades, but has fascinated the rest of the world.
The Political Philosophy of the Dalai Lama, comprising over a hundred selected pieces, brings together His Holiness s thoughts and philosophy in one volume. It addresses topics as varied as human rights and world peace, compassion and universal responsibility, the environment, disarmament, education, democracy, the Chinese occupation of Tibet, and Buddhist philosophy, all of which have been thematically arranged.
With a comprehensive introduction by Dr Subhash C. Kashyap, which captures the quintessence of the Dalai Lama s political philosophy, and a foreword by Dr Lobsang Sangay, Prime Minister of the Tibetan Government in exile, The Political Philosophy of the Dalai Lama is a must-read for everyone who maintains an interest in one of the most fascinating leaders of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
A compilation of the speeches, interviews and writings of one of the best-loved and most popular world leaders
The main topic is the controversial and widely discussed issue of Tibet under Chinese rule.
The book also talks about topics such as the environment, democracy, Buddhism, human rights, and so on
It will definitely be of interest to Tibetans in India, and should do well particularly in Dharamshala and Delhi
