Date(s) - 03/06/2016 - 09/06/2016
Led by Helen Bayes
We will explore the core beliefs and experiences that underpin Quaker words, practices and ways of worship. We will look at the joy and challenges of living the testimonies, handling business and building community. The course process will help clarify where you are in your own faith journey, in relation to other Friends, past and present. Our aim is to find ways for you to put your roots down deeper into the rich soil of Quaker faith and practice.
This course is suitable for those new to Meeting, or who are thinking of applying for membership. It is also suitable for Friends wanting to expand and deepen their sense of belonging to the Meeting and to the global community of Friends.
Helen Bayes is a member of Victoria Regional Meeting. She was the first Centre Director of Silver Wattle (2009-2012). She gave the 2002 AYM Backhouse Lecture on respecting children and the 2009 Sunderland P Gardener Lecture in Canadian Yearly Meeting on Prophetic Community. She was Eva Koch Research Fellow at Woodbrooke Quaker Centre in 2001-2, and is active in the Friends World Committee for Consultation. She is a life-long Friend.
