This is the best book I have read in regard to understanding the Easts spiritual ideals and paths. Budda and Confucianism fundamentals explained in very simple english. My respect for these people has soared, where once I thought them backward in religion and now understand and see them as the forerunners.
These people honour a humble path compared to the pomp and grandeur so often seen within European and American religious fellowships.
The logic based on human causiality (you reap what you sew) is just one of the great features in confucianism.
I highly recommend the lessons bestowed to us in this great peace of literature.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational! Changed my life!

I picked this book up in Taiwain (Taipei) in 2000 whie on a business trip. Reading the book, over the course of about a year, on and off, here and there, brought me to realize that it is truly my actions and behvaior, especially that which brings benefit to others, is meritorious conduct, that opens doors to an ever changing andpositive future. I came to realize that something as simple as my outlook, my kindness, without going out of my way to impress or work hard, would bring untold benefit to me and my family and the future for myself as well as those I love and others.
I have re-read this copy many times and have looked into associated texts and lessons referenced in the book, all of which have been beneficial to my happiness. My copy has since been shared with my adult children, many friends, and is now barely held together.
Whenever I feel a need to help another, or provide some form of guidance for them, I share this book with them first, above others. Thanks for writing it, thanks for putting in the hotel room in Taipei in 2000, and thanks for still keeping copies out there.
Today, I will buy my 2nd copy to carry with me for another generation or so. Thanks!
