The story behind this photograph – I used a small glass globe and tried to keep the focus on The Bharata. This small globe is among the first of the world map which as a child I suppose every Indian possessed.

Plot Summary –

India is at a crossroads. Its past is slipping away faster than ever, and its future, with possibilities and challenges, is approaching at break-neck speed. In this ebook, Sadhguru looks at the past, present and future of this nation, and explores why this culture matters to every human being on the planet. He explains how Bharata, India’s ancient moniker, was itself a powerful instrument. Bha-ra-ta encapsulates sensations (Bhava), tune (Raga) and rhythm (Tala), and as Sadhguru explains, “If you get the rhythm or the tala right, you will ride the raga – the tune that the source of creation has set – and life becomes beautiful.”

He elaborates on the multitude of instruments devised in this culture to calibrate this rhythm and looks at how highly innovative and sophisticated practices originated in this country, ranging from mystical aspects such as the science of consecration (or prana pratishtha) to mundane aspects such as trade and commerce.

Finally, he speaks of the possibility and responsibility of the people of Bharata to enthral and embrace the world, with the technologies of inner wellbeing they inherited from the mystics of the past.

My Review –

The book is divided into 2 parts. In the first half, Sadhguru is in an Interview with Kiran Bedi, who asks the questions regarding our nation Bharata. The interview took place in 2015 and talks a lot about the actual meaning of Bharata and why people and mainly youngsters prefer to go abroad rather than feeling proud and staying in our own Country.

In the second half, Sadhguru goes deeper into the question of
  • what made us, Bharatvasi, detached from our roots.
  • What was the cause that now we see west for authentification of what is already known here for thousands of years?
The book is a must-read to every citizen to know
  • what this nation is and
  • what actually lies in its heritage and knowledge which if not preserved or felt proud of may lead this ancient land to a much worse place.

What I liked – The actual talk about our nation.

What could’ve been better – Some points seems too stringent.

Writing Style – Interview in the first half and the importance of our nation in the second.
Conclusion – A very important and essential read for every Hindustani.

32nd BOOK of 2019 (116th book overall)
