I read this book many years ago and periodically return to it for a refresh. I see from other reviews that most people refer to it as spiritual. However, my take-away has always been how to best interact with other people. Whenever I have to deal with a difficult individual, I immediately try to classify them by their “control drama”. Almost everyone falls into at least one. From there, I can then figure out how to best respond to them. This has changed my life. For example, after reading this book, I figured out that a family member was a “poor me” and adopted the strategies recommended in the book. I now can understand, and break, the unhealthy dynamic that existed between us. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who has those unhealthy relationships with others or who work with people on a daily basis. I can guarantee that you will be happier and less stressed as a result!

I read this book many years ago. then I lent it to my dad when he was in rehabilitation for a broken leg and he was depressed. he passed away in Feb. of this year and mom 6 weeks later. I reordered this book to put in the internment with him as he never, ever forgot about the "energy in the trees". Now he is that energy in the trees and I know he's enjoying this book wherever he is.

The Celestine Prophecy is an easy, engaging read about a quest for knowledge/wisdom. A man journeys to Peru and discovers the meaning of life through Nine Insights, which are invaluable to living a spiritually enriched/evolved life on Earth. Each of the Nine Insights are explored within the novel, including practical tips for self-realization. Some of the areas explored include energy (how it works, how it is often misused, and how to keep yours free and clear), control dramas (where they originate and why, and how to get to the root of your own and stop the pattern in your family lineage), and the soul's evolution.

I want to call this a life changer, but in fact it's an existence confirmer. This is an amazing book for anyone who feels there is "more," and realizes that organized religion doesn't have any solutions. This book has greatly helped me on my personal/spiritual journey and I've purchased additional copies for friends. Read it, feel it, and decide for yourself. It's not the "End all/be all," but it certainly has awesome ideas and content.

I'll admit, the rough edges around the writing style are forgivable - as the underlying message is strong. I've read the book (and now listened to it on audible) no less than 10x and will probably re-read it annually for the rest of my life. It's a book to live by -- and the follow-on books are equally as compelling (although, if I recall, the 10th insight starts out slower). A great read for a unique perspective on the human journey through spirituality and evolution.

I love the Celestine Prophecy series. If you enjoy spirituality and learning about it through a fictional story this book is for you. It combines spiritual ideas with a narrative story of adventure. I cannot say enough about this book, it is one I read again and again.

This is a great work of non-fiction, but also can be used as a guide. I bought this because a group of people I meet with was reading this and suggested it. After reading it, I read it like a story... which it is. The general insights in this book can be seen in our world today even though this was written a while back. It may not insight change, but you can definitely see how this book mimics what we are going through as a society.
In the end, read it for yourself and decide. Is this just a story or could it be true? Am I going on any adventure in Lima to find out? No, but I can definitely say that I learned a few things from this book.

Someone (OK. Many) said this better than I can, but here goes anyway... This book spent over 3 years on the "New York Times'" Best Seller list because it speaks so powerfully to so many of us. There are some to whom the ideas in this book are old hat. Fine. They don't need it. But to those of us who found revelation in this book. We are either new to the insights it has gathered and collated from so many religions, philosophies, psychologies and spiritualities, or we have never tied them together before.
OK, First here's my own SPOILER ALERT.
This is easily the worst-written book I have ever read. I'm no Literary Critic, so I can't articulate why it's so bad, but you'll know as soon as you start to read it.
PLEASE don't let that stop you. (In fact, you can do what I did. Be amused by it! Try to imagine how you could have written a passage worse than Redfield did. Bet you can't.) You have to slog through this truly bad writing to get to the nuggets, even veins, of gold.
The book puts forth fascinating ideas. There are what Redfield calls "synchronisities," coincidences that some of us instinctively recognize and act upon, which advance our lives in positive directions. There's the concept of Energy. He talks about personal energies and personal "dramas," the outward manifestations of our inner struggles with energy, and how the dramas of others can interact with and affect us.
One of the most interesting of his theories is that individual poeple and mankind as a whole are beginning to evolve, spiritually. That theory has helped me explain and understand why some peoples seem so savage and brutal...They haven't evolved as far as we have. There's a lot of stuff about auras, which doesn't speak to me, but may to you. I have this book and "The Four Agreements," by Don Miguel Ruiz on my Kindle and iPhone, for occasional reference and insight. Bet you will, too.

4.0 out of 5 starsAn early discussion of Asension Philosophy as a novelJanuary 5, 2018

The concept is interesting - humans are on an ever increasing evolution toward spirituality. We will all increase in vibration and feel lighter, happier and cooperative. I won't be a spoiler and relate how this happens and what it leads to - you'll have to read the book. I was unimpressed with the authors writing style. All of the points are made in conversations which gets tedious. However this book remains a good introduction to Asension Philosophy.

Celestine Prophecy
By James Redfield
I circled back to read this book with two intentions. First was to refresh its powerful message in my mind. Second was to write a review and share it on Cigar Room of Books.
This book takes a `new age' spin on Christ's message. It talks about a higher level of consciousness as a function of the energy in thought. It touches on subjects that for some reason science backs away from. I honestly do know if they back away in fear, or they refute it in the name of ignorance. Perhaps they can explain all these mysteries away. The fundamental concept is that people are energy; molecules housed as one collection in a body. This is science. So if energy takes the form of vibrating molecules: can the by product of those molecules the brain, thought, actually control the molecules. Psycho-cybernetics.
From the book I provide the following excerpt. "When humans begin to raise their vibrations to a level where others cannot see them....it will signal that we are crossing the barrier between this life and the other world from which we came and to which we go after death. This conscious crossing over is the path shown by the Christ. He opened up to the energy until he was so light he could walk on water. He transcended death right here." Now there is a lot of dialogue that leads up to this excerpt that would help the reader more fully appreciate the words herein. Still yet it is indeed quite a leap in what...faith. So my question still stands to the Neigh Sayers of science: does not science require faith in their own study of the unknown?
The book itself is an adventure novel in pursuit of Insights across the countryside of Peru. In my mind as an adventure writer Redfield is a little weak. What keeps the reader going is to read what he exposes as the Insights them selves. To that I provide a summary, an excerpt from the book for those who somehow cannot find time for reading any book, let alone this one.
"I was alert to the mysterious way my life evolved, as revealed by the First Insight. I knew that the whole culture was sensing this mystery again as well, and we were in the process of constructing a new world view, as pointed out by the Second. The Third and Fourth had showed me that the universe was in reality a vast system of energy and that human conflict was a shortage of and a manipulation of this energy. The Fifth Insight revealed that we could end this conflict by receiving and inpouring of this energy from a higher source. For me, this ability had almost become habit. The Sixth, that we could clear our old repeated dramas, and find our true selves, was also permanently etched in my mind. And the seventh has set in motion the evolution of these true selves: through question, intuition of what to do, and answer. Staying in this magic flow was truly the secret of happiness. And the Eight Insight, knowing how to relate in a new way to others, bringing out in them the very best, was the key to keeping the mystery operating and the answers coming. All the Insights have integrated into a consciousness that felt like a heightened sense of alertness and expectation. What was left, I knew was the Ninth, which revealed where our evolution was taking us. We had discovered some of it. But what about the rest? `
The rest is covered in a few more books by Redfield and many other authors. But the bottom line is let the energy our thoughts connect with the universe. In that connection you will find man-kind as One. Once again John Lennon's song Imagine fills my day. If you don't read start your day with his song.
