I am a rheumatologist hoping to get more information about holistic and natural methods that my arthritis patients care about since they mention turmeric and the anti-inflammatory diet quite often. I thought this was just going to be a book about supplements and acupuncture... but it's so much more!!! It describes how a whole-health relationship with a patient should be in the contemporary healthcare era and what a healing relationship really means.
The book discusses things that I was previously working on, like shared-decision making and trying to see from the point of view of the patient's culture and belief system, but it really solidified these ideas, made them more concrete, and elevated them to a practice that I aspire to and will work towards. And yes, it does also discuss holistic, natural, complementary, and alternative medicine in thorough detail for every specialty. I would recommend this book to anyone!!!
