Professor Bart D. Ehrman joined The Drew Marshall Show as a call in guest on March 12, 2016. The broadcast was recorded from the studio of CJYE based in Oakville, Ontario Canada. Drew Marshall references his latest book "Jesus Before The Gospels: How the Earliest Christians Remembered, Changed, and Invented Their Stories of the Savior" They discuss the surveys research from the fields of psychology, anthropology, and sociology to explore how oral traditions and group memories really work and questions how reliable the Gospels can be. Focusing on the decades-long gap between when Jesus lived and when these documents about him began to appear. The book's compelling narrative not only demonstrates Ehrman’s deep knowledge and meticulous scholarship, but also challenges the historical accuracy of the Gospels and what they tell us about the historical Jesus, the way we read and think about these sacred texts, and how we view history. Program discussed on Bart Ehrman's Foundation Blog: http://ehrmanblog.org/?p=11805 Bart D. Ehrman is the James A. Gray Distinguished Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He came to UNC in 1988, after four years of teaching at Rutgers University. At UNC he has served as both the Director of Graduate Studies and the Chair of the Department of Religious Studies. A graduate of Wheaton College (Illinois), Professor Ehrman received both his Masters of Divinity and Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary, where his 1985 doctoral dissertation was awarded magna cum laude. Bart Erhman vs Pope would be more interesting.

Yes, this pastor is worried that someone might read something that would not reinforce their preconceived beliefs and may cause them to think critically about said beliefs, specifically if those beliefs are the same one the pastor shares.

It's amusing to hear the minister go on about how grown adults need to be protected against a book. I'd argue that children need to be protected against "holy" books.

they try really really hard to pigeon-hole bart or use anecdotes on bart's opinions to indirectly move their opinion on the book.

...at about 26:30, the guy who actually believes that the sky is forever falling with the always impending but never arriving return of Jesus, accuses Dr. Ehrman of "Chicken Little" tactics...malarkey!
Glen Hill
26:30 CHICKEN LITTLE EXPERIENCE?!?!?!? What a totally uncalled for remark, and by a pastor AND AFTER Bart has signed off! SHAME ON YOU, Pastor John.

Host: "By the way, do you think there is a god, Bart?" Bart: "No." :D
No Way
Fundamentalists change views depending on who they are talking to. A fundamentalist talking to a noted agnostic scholar believes different things than the same fundamentalist in the church basement discussing how god is going to use Donald Trump.
