현대 '선도수련문화'의 확산과 '단학(丹學)'

광복 이후 서구화 추세 속에서 약화 일로에 있던 선도는 1970년대말⋅1980년대초에 이르러 새로운 변화를 맞게 된다. 서구화에 대한 반성적 분위기 속에서 고유 전통으로서 한국선도가 부각, 많은 선도수련단체가 등장하고 선도수련문화가 대중화되었는데, 이러한 흐름을 주도한 계열로 ‘단학’이 있다. 근대의 선도가 민족종교의 형태를 취하였던 것과 달리 현대 선도는 수련법을 중심으로 하였으니 한국선도의 본령이 발현되기 시작한 것이다. 단학이 선도수련문화의 대중화를 주도할 수 있었던 요인으로는 선도의 상품화, 대중들의 참여, 선도의 현대화 등이 꼽히지만 이중에서도 가장 일차적 요인은 ‘선도의 현대화’이다. 단학은 선도수련문화의 출발점이 되는 ‘선도 기학’을 현대화하였다. 선도 기학의 현대화라는 성과가 현실적으로 의미가 있는 이유는 이를 통해 선도수련법이 현대화되었고 또 선도수련법의 현대화를 통해 선도수련문화의 대중화가 이루어질 수 있었기 때문이다. 단학은 새로워진 선도 기학에 바탕하여 선도수련법을 현대화하였다. 단학의 많은수련법들이 고전적 선도수련법을 현대화한 형태이지만, 특히 뇌교육은 뇌가 강조되는 시대변화를 적극 수용한 바, 선도 현대화의 대표적인 사례이다. 선도수련법의현대화는 자연스럽게 선도수련문화의 대중화로 이어지게 되는데, 특히 2000년대 무렵부터 미국사회를 중심으로 선도수련문화가 세계적으로 확산되었다.
Korean Sundo which had been weakened day by day due to the westernization trends since independence was faced with a new changes by the late 1970s and early 80s. In reflective mood on the westernization trends, Korean Sundo was emerged as a national tradition. As many Sundo discipline organizations were appeared and Sundo discipline culture was popularized. This trend was led by Dahnhak. While modern Sundo was taken the form of a religion, contemporary Sundo was taken the form of a discipline that is the core of Korean Sundo. As the factors that could be driving the popularization of Sundo discipline culture, the commercialization of Sundo, the public's positive participation and the modernization of Sundo is stated but the primary factor among them is the modernization of Sundo. First, Dahnhak renewed Sundo Kiphilosophy that is the starting point of Sundo discipline. Based on the modernization of Sundo Kiphilosophy, Dahnhak renewed the Sundo discipline once more. Among renewed disciplines, especially Brain Education is a prime example of the modernization of Sundo. Naturally, the next step of the modernization of Sundo was the popularization of Sundo discipline culture. Since the 2000s, Sundo discipline culture has been spread around the world with American society as the center.접어두기
